I?m planning to paddle and join the Beast Feast on Saturday August 15, rain or shine
Conditional upon suitable weather and viewing on August 15th, a friend of mine expressed interest in seeing the white water paddling experience and meeting paddlers and nonpaddler widows, at a paddling event such as Beast Feast.
With current high waters, and limited river access, actually seeing white water paddling might be a problem. (On the Ottawa with the bottom of Big McCoy flooded out, there is not much to see and for nonboaters access is a problem, whereas with high water on the Gatineau, surfing on the Gatineau at Bonnet Rouge is difficult or impossible,)
If attending she?d be happy to bring a potluck supper contribution, (perhaps a fruit salad), and be a shuttle driver. She asked about activities that nonpaddlers would do while waiting for the paddlers to complete their river trip. I suggested that besides meeting former paddlers and nonpaddler-widows, there would be an opportunity for a short hike along the river, a swim and taking in some sun on the beach, weather permitting, and then seeing paddlers play in the rapid just above the take-out.

=1= My friend asked I confirm that she?d be welcome to the Beast Feast, and ask about any fees for nonmember attendance. ==
=2= While many would prefer the Gatineau, are water levels on the Gatineau likely too high again this year? When is the location likely to be decided? ==
