Peter K. has posted the best overview of the Deschenes I've ever seen. It's on Boatwerks.
http://www.boatwerks.net/boaterboard/viewtopic.php?t=8628And these kite photographs of the ruins are amazing, imagine being swept into the maw of that monster!
http://www.robhuntley.ca/gallery/4701963_G3uxf#278166902_T8aWA-X2-LBWe (Peter, myself and you and you and you...YES YOU!) are starting a group of rabid Deschenes Rapids revolutionaries who want to radically renovate the ruins. We seek the renovation of the rapids, remove the re-bar, refill the sieve, so the ruins are reborn, a death-trap reincarnated into a radical, recreational run and playspot, resplendent in surf, eddies and other river treats....from death-trap to hot-spot, an awesome play-boating paradise/preserve/park....
Follow and this paradise can be yours for the tasking! Do I have any volunteers? No armed conflict nor casualities are expected...Bilingual skills would be greatly appreciated...This battle will take place on many fronts so anybody with research skills, skills in the training and handling of bureaucrats, graphic artists or artists in general, fundraising wizards, computer geeks please help out and join a noble cause and bit of a dream.
Friends, Romanians and country-fried...lend me your time! I come not to destroy Heavy D., but to praise Heavy D. Tis it not nobler to counter a threat with a smokin' hot, watery playground.......
More postings when the battle plans are ready.
Radical Renny (a.k.a. the dreaming fool)
P.S. Anybody good with acronyms? We could sure use one! The catchier the better....Canadian Rapids Appreciation Panel just doesn't cut it....
