Indeed.

Thanks Mike, Jo and Simon for taking us down the river. It was big. Last Fall, during the ill-fated trip that claimed Cl?o's boat (see my post,
http://www.cdb-ottawa.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=3429.0), I thought it was already quite big and the level was only 75.

Robin, Jo and Simon made the first big drop look deceptively easy. It wasn't, but we all stayed in our boats. Great thrill!

There were rapids that definitely required specific moves, and thanks to the perfect lines taken by Mike and Jo, most of us managed to make the eddies. Well, even the one above the 5 waterfalls, after I tripped over the wave and tried to roll in the eddy line. Now if there's a spot where you MUST roll up... Sorry for the scare!

I must say it was a bit weird to follow Mike in Slice-and-Dice (?) and see him flip right in front of me because of a sudden wave surge. But things went well and we ended up exactly where we wanted.

Embarassing for me: my swim in the relaxing slow shallow waters way below the washer machine, with a bunch of kids screaming and laughing at me, because I was too busy looking for other swimmers and didn't see a rock in front of me and ended getting my head bounced off the bottom of the river without noseplug, not even able to setup a roll...

Let's do it again!

Last night we had an evening mission to take some CdB'ers down the Rouge for the first time.

Paddlers included:

Annie V
Christian G
Jack T

Joanne T
Robin M
Simon L
and mikey....

The level was high.  I think it was above 170.  This makes for big waves and big fun (class 4 boating).

All in all, a total success.  A few swims (one long one).  However, I would have to say the paddlers did very well.

I propose we work for another mission (maybe next week).

Great time everyone!!  Great work on stepping up to a new (harder) river!!
