Hey Larry - next time (if I am in Ottawa) I will run tandem with you ... we could take second!

Sorry I missed it Larry. I got there after 1pm and ended up judging. I was disapointed, not even one attempted bribe! I think the figure skating jusdges have it made, slalom judges not so much. Congrats on winning your category. Next year you'll be the defending Champion and I might just give you a run for your money, I excell at class 2 stuff you know. I guess the PumpHouse will have to be renamed Larry's Pass, a little class two, with a few surprises to keep you on your toes...LOL

Paul ;)

It was a nice sunny day, and I had a morning to kill.
The course was built as you saw with all those downstream offset gates  ... you will have to practice those stern pivot turns to make them.
Challenging in the Ultrafuge. I lost the rthymn after going though gate 10  .... up to then my run was pretty good.

I only did one run out of the allowed two . There was only 1 tandem boat entry, so they won their category as well.

Results are posted on the Ottawa River Runners website. The guys in slalom boats are twice as fast and they make all the gates.
Would I take part in the race again... not sure. ORR certainly needs to make it more of a festive event with music and a BBQ pit. Or if I had a whole day to kill for 4 minutes on the water.

Larry,
Congrats - that is awesome. It sounded like a lot of fun. On that note, anyone feel like hitting up the Pumphouse on Wednesday or Thursday evening?

I was out west with work and got a few rivers in BC in with some friends who moved out there. Very nice. Got on the Ashlu, which was so beautiful, but is being dammed. So sad.

Well ... Or not so well.

Missed a few gates ...
flipped, rolled up ... which is not the norm. They don't teach the youngster how to roll.
finished.
All in my playboat. Not sure the last time I flipped in Class II stuff.

Amazing just to watch the the folks in the real slalom boats.

oh ... won my class since I was the only entry for plastic "tupperware"

Going fast in the slalom boat is not hard. Going fast and going where you want to go, now that's a different story.

Paul

Does this mean you won't be taking part in the race???
Perfect opportunity show your racing talents.

I'll think about using your boat ... but I think I'd rather paddle my own even though it creates a clear advantage for the slalom boats. Maybe they will have classes for plastic boats.
Hey you could use your slalom boat, I could use my plastic boat ... Just spot me 2 minutes.
