We had a nice run of the Beaver last Saturday. Everyone did well except for me who ran the last big rapid on my butt... Thanks Annie for finding my paddle, which had floated all the way past the take-out! BTW Annie ran the Big White Slide perfectly twice. She learnt her lesson well: never follow me; I ended up running that rapid the first time backwards, after flipping and rolling... a bit scary, considering that the better part of it has only about 12 inches of water on it... Jacques figured out which boat he did NOT want to buy, although if that rental boat had all the parts it was supposed to have (and came with a toolbox), things may have been different...
Definitely a nice introduction to creeking, all sorts of stuff between Class II and Class III+, certainly much more fun in a creek boat! Without scouting, the entire run takes about 20 minutes. But then where is the fun? And, too bad I didn't take more photos...
The last photo below shows the bottom of the 1st rapid, just below the dam. There is a VERY sticky hole on the right (i.e. river-left), which is fortunately easy to avoid (we all did--this time).
