J'y suis alle hier.
Habitat 67 was not looking good and there was noone around.
Pushed to La Chine and La vague a Guy.
The instructions from Stephanie were good.
Met a fellow kayaker and 2 boarders.

Wave is small/not high - couple of feet, no more than 3 for sure.. Maybe 20ft wide - sorry that would be about 7m?
Man enhanced eddy and easy to access. It's in front of a park bench facing the river.
(I should have looking at the street address.)
It had a buddle forming in the middle and then crashing - bubble was very flushy.
So you either stayed surfer right (not so good), or surfer left (better).
I am told that the water level is still fairly high and the wave not as good as previous years.

Half way through some (4) jet skis showed up and started to muck around, then jumping waves.
Even the vague a Guy when we were not on it.
Quite noisy and disturbing.

Si tu veux aller ? la Vague ? Guy c'est super facile!
J'avais trouv? une map que je voulais coller dans mon msg mais pour une raison inconnue ca ne marche pas!
Va sur google.maps et  ?crit Boul Lasalle  at Gagn?, Montr?al. Ca va te donner la map que je voulais te montrer. Je ne sais pas d'ou tu pars mais tu  es surement capable de te rendre  ? Lasalle si ma m?moire est bonne tu connais d?j? pas mal l'?le!
Habituellement nous on descend la rue Gagn? jusqu'au bout,  tu tourne ?  droite sur Boul. Lasalle et tu vas voir ? ta gauche  il y a un super beau et gros parc (Boul Lasalle longe le fleuve). Si tu continu peut ?tre 500 m tu vas voir des genres de statues  bizarres en m?tal qui vont ?tre dans le parc, (toujours a ta gauche): La vague a Guy est en face de ses statues. Tu peux te stationner sur le Boul.Lasalle, il  y a toujours de la place!
J'esp?re que c'est clair, je ne suis pas la fille avec le meilleur sense de l'orientation hahaha Mais avec internet tu devrais pas avoir de probl?me, fait juste te rapeller que la Vague se  trouve sur le Boul Lasalle vis  ? vis les statues,  un peu pass? la rue Gagn?

I plan to leave work early tomorrow and go surfing on the St-L.
Likely at Habitat 67 as it is 10min away.

But if I have the info for la vague a Guy, I might swing by there instead...
Like parking and path to follow...

Hey  Jack!
You definately need to know people who know the Lachines very well to go there, which could be hard for you unless you know montreal paddlers??
It is in the middle of the St-Lawrence, and swimming  is NOT an option. Seriously.
If you  are looking for  some nice surfing and you dont have anybody, like Louis said, vague a Guy is your best  option,  very safe, a nice 3 feet talll and at least 10 feet wide foam pile with an awesome  eddy, and it is right by the shore!
I would gladly go with you this weekend but I can't paddle for 3 weeks and Pat well, he's running the Ottawa this weekend.

Heuuummmm. I'm supposed to drive back to Ottawa this weekend, sorry.

For Lachine rapids,
I heard that "la Vague a Guy" was next to the shore, easy to access and to ride.
To access the "Big Joe" wave you need to paddle a fair amount to the middle of the St-Lawrence.
So the board surfers are not too keen for it as they need some form of transportation.
I haven't been there yet, but am told it is a 20min round trip.
Wave is also bigger than Habitat 67.

Habitat 67 is pretty easy to access.
See my previous thread on that location with a couple of pictures and map, as I recall.

Forgot to mention that Stephanie and Pat might be able to provide more info locally.

Hi guys,

I might be in Montreal this weekend and not paddling is out of the question. If I go, I would maybe go to the Lachine Rapids. Any info and people to hookup with would be appreciated.
