Please Donate for the Beast Feast Auction!

Bring your gently used (or not so gently used) paddling gear or anything else you want to donate to the Beast Feast Auction, July 17.

The Auction will take place at the pot luck the evening of the Beast Feast by the fire. The auction will be a fun way to make sure the paddling gear you're not using anymore will be enjoyed by someone else and a great way to support an up and coming Canadian athlete.

All proceeds from the Beast Feast Auction wil go to sponsor Sindy Audet, the first ever Canadian woman to qualify for the Canadian National White Water C-1 Slalom Team.

Sindy has no sponsors and practically no funding from any levels of government and relies solely on private donation to pay for her coaching, travel and living expenses.
Sindy, a new member of our club, will be competing the same day we Feast on the Beast!

Sindy is an olympic caliber canoe and C-1 athlete, and also a very adept kayaker.

She will offer a white water clinic at the Valleyfield White Water Slalom course to some lucky CdB members.

So bring all your used gear this year to the Beast Feast and let others bid on them, it will be lots of fun!

One ticket will be given to each of those who donate or to anyone who wins a bid on auctioned items.

Tickets to support Sindy can also be purchased for $5 dollars each.

The winners will be announced at the conclusion of the auction.

Sindy hopes that you will support her in her ultimate quest to represent Canada at the Olympics in 2012!

Thank you,

Paul Potvin

I second what Christian has said and I thank you Darryll for all those wonderful Beast Feasts these past years!

As for the upcoming one we will just do a pot luck and bring your own BBQ!

Darryll, if I understand properly, you can NOT be there for the weekend of July 17? Well, if that is so, let me at least thank you, on behalf of the club (and myself) for all the years where you worked away at the BBQ while we enjoyed the river! So good luck buying the condo, and we'll miss you this year.

I still suggest that we go as planned, as a potluck event maybe...

"Sara, Christian, have you guys made reservations at RR for CdB, might be a good idea?"

Will do, and let's discuss that on Thursday.

My apologies to the club, this year has been a whirlwind of activities with travel, my retirement next week, a heavy teaching schedule ,  and Louise and I trying to buy a condo in Florida. Unfortunately  the Beastfeast which was originally scheduled for the weekend of the 24 and 25 of July will have to be postponed to Sept if the club still wants to have it. I will be away for the month of Aug and just do not have the time this month. I would be happy to do it in Sept but with everything going on I cannot manage it.

Darryl, are we still on?

Louis, what's the update on Billy Harris' prizes?

Sara, Christian, have you guys made reservations at RR for CdB, might be a good idea?

Me: I've contacted Paddle Shack and am coordinating prize givaway with Jason (owner)!

Tibor, make sure you bring your clan, Main Channel this time!

Everyone, meet at Champlain this Thursday to tweak your rolling skills with Larry!

Everyone, don't forget to bring something eatable to share with everyone (if you camp at RR Friday, you can always go to Renfrew, after the saturday paddle, to buy stuff to share)!

Paul ;)

Sticky thread toward the Beast Feast notifications and exchanges.

Looks like the date was secured with our Beast Master.
It's going to be July 17-18th on the Ottawa at River Run due to current water levels.
