Hi
thanks for the little bit of encouragement Paul.
The only change would be the use of term "trip leader". No one really is the trip leader in the true sense of the meaning. One could be called the trip coordinator who chooses the river, meet time and place, and maybe indicates whether there is a need to get off the river early. There is nothing worse than getting to the river at noon and someone pipes in "Oh, I need to be off the river at 3" ...
Sometimes crap happens on the river not excluding helicopter rides, cuts and bruises and that is usually dealt with in the proper manner when it occurs.
The water levels this year are quite low and most likely many day trips to the Ottawa will occur ... OKS operates a kayak school teaching beginners on the very same stretch of water, which sort of tells you something about the river. You can't improve your kayaking skills if your boat sits at home.
It's a short summer ....

You want to paddle but you're a new member or a beginner and are afraid of posting an river outing?
You do not having to be an experienced paddler or long time member of the CdB to post a river run. Just say what your experience level is and that way paddlers who answer your thread know. As a river trip leader you usually set the pace, start time and when you expect to be off the river and back in town. You want to go down the Main or the Middle or a park and play session? You can post that! You are not responsible for the safety of others, this is a social paddling club, not an instructional club. Other paddlers who answer your invitation, on your thread, accept this and respond wether they will paddle with you or not. Some paddlers will often suggest other venues or time table. Feel free to privately PM them and ask them to post their own thread.
Don't wait to tag along another paddler's trip suggestion, post your own!
Hope this helps,
Paul
