Well all, I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but on my topographic maps of the city of Ottawa, the 60 m contour line crosses the river at Deschesnes rapids, while the 50 m line does so at the Chaudiere falls. Considering that the newly repaired Environment Canada online gauge for the Ottawa at Britannia (02KF005) oscillate around 57 m with its characteristic 24-hr period, I wouldn't be surprised if the gauge was now calibrated in absolute height above mean sea level. Which means we'll have to determine a new set of numbers for the local playspots... At least the units are the same, so it should be straightforward to find the offset. Here's a first estimate: the new 57 m is equivalent to the old 2 m. Let's see if that makes sense next spring...
Or maybe it's temporary and they'll switch to the old relative levels? Who knows?
