Cristian , one word for you ........werner!

I know I know... If you look at my avatar, attached to the bike is indeed a Werner paddle. A fiberglass Sherpa, great paddle and very durable; they can be fixed by anyone with epoxy and fiberglass cloth if the need arises. I prefer the Sherpa blade design over their Player blade. Unfortunately my thumbs seem to prefer the luxury of a bent shaft... I should sell this one and get myself the bent shaft version...

I was wondering what the Eagle section looks like when 'OFF', here's a photo from Shane Benedict (Liquid Logic) showing the angle iron hazard in the pourover forming the first little drop below the slide put-in:

And here's what it looks like, the 'river', in its full 5-foot width:

Todd's camera has great movies of the guys going down, in which you can hear the paddles and boats hitting the rocks, I think Louis was the loudest... Until Todd puts the videos together, here's what it look like. It's that steep, the people are standing straight on the picture. There is no 'line', you follow the water and brace for life; as Bill said, going upside down at the begining of a drop will seriously mess up your hairdo... I didn't feel confident enough to do it (next year I will); being cold and shivering didn't help, neither did the fact that I had just begun converting my paddle into an expensive canoe paddle... --C.

Drove from Montreal on Friday evening with 2 other guys.
Joined up with the 7 from Ottawa; but only 5 kayakers....cool shuttle bunnies!!

Paul, you should have brought your gear...just in case.
And then run Taylorville (III) with us on the second round....8-)

After watching a bunch of dimwits (dimshits or whatever the name of their group is) go down Eagle in a 3 men raft (wider than some spots), we were all cold...but the 3 of us and 3 from Ottawa proceeded to go down.
Benjamin, TJ (Mtl) and I took it from the top entry slide and hooked up with Todd, Jack and Francois (Mtl) at the top of the first slide.
For the second slide, TJ went ahead to escape the side effects of a Louis' line, only to mess it up at the top and went full right but brought it back on track. The little typewriter curler at the top had destabilized him and a solid brace enabled to stay upright but the typewrite to go Ting! full right.
Wanting to do better I punched the curler hard...a bit too hard...went right through and right into the wall. Boing! Unpinning...sliding all the way to the right with the typewriter...darn! Time to paddle hard and zoom! zoom! paddled across below the rock hand back into the right channel...ouf!

On the injury side, I managed to scrape my thumb while hand rolling back up on the rocks just above the 6ft waterfall.
Overall, not too bad...not perfect, but not too bad, and overall a great day!

We waited for the Ottawa party after the run - and they apparently waited for us...
We drove down to the bottom to see where they were.....gone.
And now, MERDE. Paul/Bill has my throw rope!!!

I went to Beaver Creek today in Upper New York. I saw the Taylerville section and I though, yeah, I could paddle that. Next year for sure! Then I went to the Eagleston section and I thought, maybe I could paddle that, maybe, looked pretty dicey, especially after seeing some buddies run it in a pretty ragged fashion. On... guy said his wife broke her two hands and one guy dislocated his thumb! Dicey...

Paul ;D

Here's Jacques and Christian running the Big White Slide! Enjoy!
