The Pumphouse is NOT a good place to practice rolling at all. Champlain is, however. So yes, go ahead, rent a boat and go to Bate island (and don't forget to bring dry clothes). I should be there to play as well (I need to try the new outfitting in my boats), then we'll move to Whispers to discuss weekend plans!

Hi,

Is anyone going tomorrow or are you going to the pump house.
I am thinking of renting a boat at MEC and come practice my roll.
Would the pumphouse be a good plce for that: I have never been.

Thanks ;-)
Caroline

There can be only one Paul. As for Deschesnes rapids, refer to the picture below. The gauge level is at 57.75, like the old 2.75, and the wave should begin to have a foam pile but still quite green. Worth looking at, but don't expect miracles!

Hi Bill

Looks like that's the coordinates for the corner of Rue Martel and Rue Rosenes (that was my original guess).

Thanks,

Adam

Paul and/or Christian,

Can you give directions to JJ wave?  Where do you park?  I don't see Chemin Begin on Google maps.  I see the ruins and the rapids..

Cheers,

Adam

Why don't we do that. JJ wave itself is not necessarily a wave suitable to beginners wanting to practice, but all the whitewater below the ruins is beginner friendly, scenic, there's room for everyone, and it's all only a few meters from shore. By the way, the site is good for BBQ or a bonfire.

See you at Champlain next Thursday (6PM) and then onwards to lower JJ (Desches rapids-+-4 kilometers westwards on the Quebec side, chemin B?gin)!

Cheers,

Paul ;D

Well.. the level is going down up in Beachburg..so will it here in the city!

Level was 57.8 this am and im pretty sure lower jjs is starting to come in! I will go check tonight or tomorrow.

Any interest on paddling there this week on evenings? Possibly have the cdb Thursday meet there?
