My estimations for classes here are based on the level that day (last Sunday after some significant rains), water temp, and some wood issues in the river. The top of drop in that section is really two drops and together they make for a class 5. There may be a decent line through them both down the right side, but there are some obstacles in between them that could throw one offline and then things would get ugly. I talked to a a local canoeist up there who described this as a ~20 ft waterfall.....I had been expecting more.
Putting in immediately below that drop (a quad trail along river left makes for an easy portage but take out early to avoid steep banks) and the next 400-500 metres I would class as 3+ if not 4. It is continuous, there is a tricky drop where the river bends sharply to the left, and once one comes out of that (pic 4 from above) there is some wood in the river.
After that section there is another 1+ km of class 2+ (wood issues, etc. would dictate that one should have much better boat handling skills that before tackling a high flow paddle through here though).
The following pics are from the top section of the river. The first one just gives a general indication of the environment through there and the second and third is of a small set of rapids that end with a partial log jam coming out of the left bank and a fair amount of water is flowing through it. It would be way easy to avoid the log jam for experienced paddlers, but !!!!!!
