Hey Larry,

Right now its a toss up between fishing and the rouge. I never get to do the rouge so I am torn...

Might see you.

I'm in! If I fish, say a person out of the water..., like I was fished out three weeks ago, does that count Larry?

Paul ;)

Given I can find a creekboat to punt my fishing gear in.. I am in! Do I need a QC or ontario liscence... or none?

I know just the spot for huge pike!  ;D

hi

Meet at the WT takeout at 11 am to set up a shuttle.

Not sure what channel at present because the water levels are up and down like a pump handle.
You can try fishing as much as you want ... or fight with the raft traffic.
A cheering squad is most welcome.

It is deemed a "catch and release" event. Good idea to pinch the barb off the hooks.

2 categories:
Most fish caught/landed during the day ... size doesn't matter and the honour system will be used.
The largest fish: size does matter and a witness is required. I''ll try to remember to bring a weighing device and set up weigh points as we head down the river.

Along the way there will be time limits at certain areas of the river just to keep the group together.
The event probably won't be much different than any other day on the river.

So who's joining in???

Larry

Are you still thinking of this one Larry? I'm a yes, but I probably won't fish. Need a score keeper?

Hi
Never too early to start thinking about a fun event. ..

In year 2010 the annual fishing derby was held after several years of being in hiatus. In 2011, the Ontario Family Fishing week (July 2-10) provides a good opportunity to introduce people to the relaxing sport of fishing without an Ontario Fishing License. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LetsFish/2ColumnSubPage/STEL02_165392.html

This is a good opportunity to combine what we like doing ... whitewater, spending a day outside and trying a bit of fishing. No fishing rod ... no problem. Last year, Colin just used a stick, line, hook, float setup and won the title of most fish caught. Ray won the category of largest fish caught.

The event will take place on the Ottawa ... between the Owl put-in and take-out

More details to follow next week...

Larry
