Paul , I beleive it is illigal to transport firewood , I may be wrong , however we woulden't want the ash bug to destroy all the trees in paddlers meadow ,.......wait a minitue , there are no trees in paddlers meadow , forget the firewood , bring some trees to plant !   Shade is nice when its +40

I (and possibly Paul and others?) will go Friday afternoon and play a bit, then drink, camp, and be there for the rest of the weekend.

Do not bring wood from other places, invasive insects are already a problem in Ontario. But don't worry, the club checkbook will fund firewood!

River Run fees are reasonable considering what you get. As I wrote earlier, just the fact that someone is watching over the parking lot is worth a lot. Worth 342$ in my case, after a$$h0le broke my right side mirror when parked by the Rouge (Harrington canyon section). That's even though the owner had specifically given us his permission to park there and use his property!

That rant voiced, I'd like to report that for the Rouge canyon section, the landlord was very friendly and did give us kayakers permission to use his land as a take-out. But as he requested, just park by the bridge so that partying yahoos don't think it's ok to park anywhere near his land. He's ok with kayakers, we just go in and out and don't hang out drinking... So if you're there and some fellow comes in a pick-up truck to talk to you, be nice and thank him (if he is indeed the landlord) for letting you use the take-out, assure him you're just passing and park by the bridge. People there are in fact mostly nice and realise that the economy of their region will soon be fueled by tourism. For instance, when walking back, another local resident gave me a ride in his car after the run, even though I was soaking wet!  But there is one or more residents near the bridge that may need 'readjustment'...

See you all this weekend!

Hi Andy,

Per all your questions...TBD.. Seriously this is not an overly organized event, more of a show an enjoy time. By the end of the week others will post their availability and willingness to carpool Saturday. Depending on the number of participant they're could be 3-4 different events going on, Middle Channel, Main Channel or Park & Play at Push Buton or even @ Baby face....

Good of you to ask first. You just tossed the first ball of the game!

Cheers,

Paul:)

Hi, I am returning to the club after a three year break and I am planning to come up for the day/evening on Saturday 23rd.

Where are people meeting to start the river and what time? Also is any one leaving from Ottawa area on Saturday morning who wants to car pool?

Andy

Re: !!!!MINI BEAST FEAST!!!! -- Free Wood!

Bill Schlarb has some fireplace wood to give for free! The wood is beside his house in Ottawa. If anyone would like to save a few bucks before attending Mini Beast Feast, please contact Bill via this forum to arrange for a pickup. Otherwise it is $8 for a bag of wood at RR. I'm not sure they would be too pleased if campers hacked away at the park ground trees to collect firewood.... hum....

See you at MBF!

Paul:)

I wouldn't keep a jar of money around. I'll just steal it. I say just bring an ax and some beer, I'm sure someone will go postal on the surrounding forest. That or we can burn all those tags I have to put around my life jacket to show that I can use the RR take out. There's probably a lot of them on the floor of my car.

The coffee cups alone will keep it going for an hour or two.

... Let's have a bidding war! Lowest price wins!

Paul, I have always been fun of both your humor and business acumen. The club deals that you have negotiated in the past made me feel  a winner time and time again (I GOT A DEAL!!!)... Having said that it was pretty deserted at RR last weekend, which made it a good time to go camping. Perhaps when the economy picks up we could try to get some firewood out of a mass registration??? But until then, we could make club arrangements for the firewood. Either an on-site collection jar or CDB cheque. I'm bringing this up because it seems that it's always and individual generosity that keeps the bonfire going.
Just a thought.

http://www.riverrunrafting.com/fees-and-policies/

This is where I had gone on the website which makes total sense while browsing their page. I didnt bother checking under Resources as I didnt think Camping / Access fees would be under this tab.

Thanks for the price list correction Larry.

And following somebody else's line down a rapid isnt such a great idea. Paddlers should be able to choose their own line. If the person youre following messes up his line, so will you.  ;)

Paddler Fees
Take-out ? $6
RiverRun Rafting charges a minimal fee for the use of our property as a take-out location.
Overnighter ? $16.50 / $27.50
Spend the night in one of our beautiful campgrounds, there are five to choose from.
Includes take-out . Overnighter with buffet breakfast $27.50. Visit our camping page for further details.
Shuttle - $15 per person per trip (2 person minimum) Includes holiday Mondays on long weekends

Above prices are for paddlers - which would include kayaker, C1, C2, open boaters

If you are arriving Saturday morning to paddle for the day, camp overnite and paddle the next day = one take out fee and one night of camping = $6 + $16.50
Forget about using the shuttle service unless there is absolutely no-one else around ... and when does that happen in the summer?

If consider yourself a rafter or hanging around the rafters the above rates do not apply. Go to the rafters price page and it will cost you $19 for the use of RR property.
Apparently this John person went to the wrong page ... So don't follow his line through the rapids.

Larry

I was camping at RR last Saturday to Sunday and it was $16.50 all in.
Robert

Got my info off their website? Perhaps they should ammend that eh?

What do you mean by "all-in"? 16.50$ Per day?

If had administrative issues with RR in the past. Last year Richard and I called and asked for shuttle. They said shuttle was 10$ Per person on the phone. We got there, They charged us WAY more for parking, access and shuttle fees...OVerall, it was a bit over 50$  for both IIRC and that was no camping involved.. The guy who "shuttled" us was an asshole and complained the whole way up to the put in saying they dont offer shuttle service and we were wasting his time etc etc..
