Revised meeting time tomorrow.Wow, lots of people coming to Valleyfield tomorrow! So we don't waste time shifting boats around cars, I'm moving the meeting time at Champlain 15 minutes earlier to 9:45am. Please be advised that at CdB we have a somewhat flexible 15 minute rule for waiting for people who are late. Iwill sticky this topic until tomorrow so people don't miss it!

See you all tomorrow at Champlain Bridge at 9:45am sharp!

Cheers,

Paul:)

That poutine looks amazing!

Sounds like a fun event for sure but im wondering how easy its gonna be for non competitors to paddle.. I mean, it is a roadeo and boatercross event.. Cant really have a proper boatercross if non competitors are all over the place.? Correct me if im wrong, ive never been to this comp. but I do admit that the top hole at Valleyfield can deliver some beatings if not comfortable riding holes but it is awesome for loops and hole moves otherwise! The seal launch is also very fun!

It's a really big course, with all sorts of eddies and waves, usually shared by a bunch of different paddlers, all doing their thing. Lots of place, not crowded at all.

Forgot to ask. Do they expect it to be busy there, i.e.: will there be competitions occupying the course and features?

Hey Paul, you look like you are scouting a line through the poutines. Did you take the sneak or the "meaty" section? ;D. Anyhow, I'm in.

...And along the road there is the home of the largest poutine in Ontario, likely the main reason Paul is posting this...

Robert Zwanenberg of the Cornwall Crew is organising this event and has invited the CdB to attend.
Valleyfield, located near Montr?al, is an innercity slalom course like the Pumphouse but much bigger and cleaner.

Here is a link describing the course: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=401281&site_id=1#import

Here is a link to the seal launch: http://youtu.be/P2KIRuU2qZY

 Hope to see you there,

Paul

Below are driving directions to Valleyfield:

Valleyfield is a town on the St. Lawrence river, just south east of the point where the 401 meets hwy 20 (i.e. just inside the border of Quebec).

The trip, from downtown Ottawa, takes 1:45 to 2:00hrs and is about 170km one way.

From Ottawa, take the 417 towards Montreal.
Exit toward Monkland/Cornwall (exit 58)
Drive to Cornwall (hwy 138) -- approximately 35km.
Follow hwy 138. It turns right then left as you approach Cornwall.
Before getting onto the 401, you can stop at Tim Horton?s in the mall that is just past the 401.
Take the 401 East (toward Montreal).
The 401 turns into Hwy 20 at the Quebec border
Drive 14km after the border and exit at Route 201 Sud towards Salaberry-de-Valleyfield (exit 14)
You?ll cross a few bridges, then you?ll  :-\enter Valleyfield. Take a right at Rue Alexandre (a 1 way street)
Turn left on Rue Dufferin.
You?ll see a shopping mall on the right. At the set of lights, turn into the shopping mall (you?ll see a Jean Coutu in the mall parking lot and a McDonalds on the other side of Dufferin)
Drive BEHIND the Maxi grocery store. This will bring you to a small parking area behind the mall and you?ll see the river with gates hanging.
