I went an looked at it on sunday.

its not really all that much of a wave.

I don't think a play boat could stay on it, and you would really have to paddle to get back into the eddy. The eddy is not much of an eddy either.

I don't the levels at the pumphouse at all, but I would say if the water came down it might get better.

I walked over to it yesterday to take a closer look.  There is a large cement block (I think Jacques can attest to it) at river-right that looks pretty tough.  I saw a guy in an olympic C1 bang against it and roll in the eddy that swirls in front of the block.  The eddy looks kinda sticky.  I talked to him afterwards and he thought that it would be difficult to stay on the wave in a play boat. 

Anyway, some of you experienced paddlers might find it OK.  I think I'd have to give it a pass.

Its apparently flooded, so I could see that eddy getting larger as the water goes down.

Dont know! Looks like there is a small eddy surfers left and behind..But if you flush.. looks like youre going down the toilet flush..

Has anyone had a chance to try this wave? 

Is it a 'one shot' and then you're in the tunnel or can you paddle over to the dock river-right to get out (or try the wave again)?

that's great , it looks like it's near the bottom of the pumphouse ? , a warning everyone , in the winter the flatwater freezes in the tunnel , you do not want to go in the tunnel with iceshelfs in the dark.

Yes they created it recently. Two days ago, to be precise. Many volunteers did the work. If you go try it and are not an ORR member, please acknowledge the amount of work involved and put 5$ in the metal box as they request.  Or consider becoming an ORR member, which includes Whitewater Ontario membership as bonus. Pretty sweet!

Looks fairly fast and green though... the surfers left seems weak! It looks like itd be good for longer faster boat.. Not sure for playboats though!

I guess well have to try and see!

The new wave at the Pump House.  checked it out today and even though it's flooded, it would still of been surfable, with spin and more aerial potential!
It's way better at lower levels.
