If nice accomodations, atmosphere, apres-ski is a priority, I'd recommend Whistler, or Banff (Banff has an excellent shuttle system from the town of Banff to Sunshine Village and Lake Louise).

If you're looking for supreme skiing, and are cool with staying in hostels or motels, I'd go with Whitewater, Red Mountain, or Castle Mountain.

If you're looking for middle ground, I'd suggest Kicking Horse, Revelstoke, or Fernie.

I can clarify anything if need be.

Thanks Guys,

Here is the reply I got from Sina Lutz! (she's on facebook)

Hi Paul,
happy to hear from you, too.
I was thinking already how to get to Ottawa, if something changes and time is left, I unfortunenatly let you know.
It is uncredible, I often think back to the times I had in Canada, climbing, kayaking with you, Carine and Grahame. Ihink it really made a big part of live, travelling to Canada.
And going snowshoing with liz jimmy(?the guy with the beard:))
Boah, what I am studying energy and enviromental engineering. I do not know exactly what it is on English!
But, well I still have one semester to do make my masters.
After I wanna travel a little bit, maybe 3 or four month(Chile, Ecuador). But do not have exact plans. I really do not want to start to work. Then I do not much free time left.
Here it started to snow a lot. Even in Munich.
In the Alps, Austria and Switzerland it snowed so much last much, they were kind of snowed in. Some people even could not get home after their holidays.lol

Cheers, too!!!!

ps: greet the other people from me
..

I can't pipe in with much more than Larry and google can. Panorama could possibly be added to that list, and possibly the hills on the Alberta side of the Rockies (Lake Louise and Sunshine primarily) if by B.C. they mean western Canada. The B.C. ones are listed here:
http://www.skiingincanada.ca/skican/map.php?orgID=1

Another seldom heard of possibility would be Hudson Bay Mtn just outside of Smithers in the N.W. They are having a record snow year so far this year at the nearby snow-pillow station:
http://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/data/asp/realtime/basin_skeena_nass.htm   click on the nearest station to Smithers: 4B17P
Germans often tend to like visiting the more northern and remote areas as well. Great log homes/buildings up in that region. The hill itself doesn't appear to have much steep stuff, but ???????

For other snow data in the province one can visit here:
http://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/data/asp/realtime/index.htm  Generally speaking in the SW the snowpack is slightly below average, and in the SE  things are above to decently above average.

Yesterday's seasonal forecast for the USA can be used to extrapolate what is fairly likely to be happening in the coming months in B.C.:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/long_range/lead01/off01_temp.gif
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/long_range/lead01/off01_prcp.gif
That combined with a very positive short-range forecast makes it look like a great year to head that way. I'm thinking about a late July/ early Aug paddle trip.

If that long range forecast can be applied to the Ottawa region then perhaps Camp misFortune will have a good year.

Revelstoke
Red
Bigwhite
Fernie
Whistler
Sun Peaks
Silver Star
Whitewater

In no particular order of preference ... but I prefer the interior BC

Hi our member at large, Sina, has asked me if I knew about any good skiing resorts in BC (She's coming for a visit later this year). Not being a skier, I told her I would ask all the CdBer's that are into skiing for that information. Sooo.... if anyone that knows BC and have some info about resorts there could you please post it here!

Thanks,

Paul :)

I know. How can someone visit Canada and only stay in Vancouver and Calgary and not visit Ottawa is beyond me!

Paul ;)

Ask Jacques, Todd or Dave Howlett...

But tell her that Ontario (specifically Ottawa) is a FAR better place to visitr than BC...
