All your lines were perfect. (Ha Ha! Except maybe for Dog's Leg, but I did the same thing!) This is good educational material: when someone asks 'what's the line', just have them watch the video. Especially for McCoy's... This camera also gives a more natural view than a GoPro, in my opinion. --C.

For those interested, I made a little video of the group on the Main channel but all together at McCoy's. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRYpHROZZP8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Hi!

I am a new member. I would really like to come, but unfortunately I will be away this weekend participating at the Spartan Race at Mont Tremblant. I hope to have the opportunity to participate in your activities, this summer. By the way, I am new to kayaking. I have had two pool sessions at Carleton University. I still need to practice my rolls.

Thanks!

Claude Tardif

There should be a bunch of people at the Champlain bridge rapids on Thursdays after work most of the summer to practice rolling in moving water! --C.

I'm picking up Martin, then meeting Andrew and probably Jean-Nicolas at Eagleson park and ride. So I'll have a full car. I'll probably aim to be at the park and ride for 8:15 + time to strap the kayaks and load up. Leaving around 8:30AM.

Thanks Larry for the precision, however Bill had mentioned it in his first post:
"We will be running the Ottawa Middle Channel and/or Main Channel. The Ottawa currently at 1/8 ft. on the OWL gauge; we can set up two groups as needed. We'll have experienced paddlers in both groups to provide tips and advice."

For those who don't know the river--McCoys is part of both channel runs, as the river splits a km below...

Is anyone interested in meeting at the Eagleson Park'n'Ride for carpooling, say around 8:30?

Hi

By tradition Newcomers' day normally has been held on the Middle Channel since a newcomer implies someone new to the sport rather than an experience paddler new to the club. Although there are people out there saying at the present levels of 0-1, it is safer down the Main Channel.

In the past years we have split into two groups, but the default is down the Middle and a bunch people who will run the Main.
So if you are reading the river descriptions you only have to be concerned with one channel for now at least

Plus there will be plenty of time this summer to run the Main with the forecasted hot dry summer.

Larry

that last description is kind of scaring this newbie.  more than a tad.  is there a place where I can go to find a description of the features of what I will be paddling?

Not to worry Janet, there will be several experienced paddlers along to demo the lines to run and the spots to walk around as needed.
