So... Bastien is coming up from Kingston and we should leave Ottawa for Laniel around noon tomorrow, and we'll go to the take-out to set up camp. My mobile # is 613-355-2470. I'm getting excited... --C.

I try to go by satellite photos as much as possible. They, at least, are accurate... Unless I am mistaken, the road is just past 'Lac ? Chester', on the left side of the 101.

Christian - thanks for the clarification.  I'm gonna take the high road here (pun intended) and
refrain from any sarcastic remarks.  ;-)

Your jpg map has 2 routes on it; one brownish, the other red.    Wasn't really clear which one was the route.   Maybe the red line is an older, crappier road?  So now we know what roadsign to look for:  Chemin de la Grande Chute (hopefully there is a sign).   BTW that road did not appear on Google Maps directions when you type in the GPS coordinates for the takeout.  It appears that the online mapping universe needs to catch up with providing instructions to this world class destination!

Thanks again, see you Friday.   Looking forward to an excellent weekend!

For those of us without a GPS, what is the road where we turn left off of 101 to get to
the Kipawa Lodge?  Is it Chemin de La Grande Chute (which I assume is the red line in Christian's map..)

Thanks!

If you take a quick look at the map that I posted (twice), you will see a big yellow thumb tack marked 'Road to Kipawa Take-out'. I believe that I put it there to mark, hmmm, something like the road to the Kipawa take out... It is indeed the 'Chemin de la grande chute'. --C.

Hi Bruce,
I might be interested in joining you on Friday, and should be able to make it for 3 pm.

Hi Jeremy,

Are you interested in carpooling on Friday to the Kipawa?
My preference is to go up on Friday as well.
Larry mentioned to me on Monday that there is camping at the put-in.
Break camp in the morning and then would be able to just wait there for the crew to show-up to paddle.

call me at 613-297-6961 or email at bruce.samhaber@samhaber.ca
I am flexible on departure time, but the earlier the better, especially if can beat the Kanata & cottage traffic!!
Which is why I posted for 3pm.

Thanks,

Bruce.

Is anyone interested in driving up on Friday?
Perhaps leave town around 3pm.

If not does anyone going on Thursday interested in carpooling?
Have room for 1 more paddler, boat gear, tent.

Thanks,
Bruce.

Larry's correct. Go north west on the 533 at Mattawa, then turn right on the 63 when the 533 ends. --C.

Hi

If you went via North Bay, your 6 hour drive just became 7.
One side of a triangle is shorter than the other 2
Keep right at Mattawa.

google street view - 533 is paved

Larry

Thanks Christian!
One last question (for now lol)
Google says take 17 to 533 to 63(which turns into the 101)
Do you take this way, or is it easier/smarter to take 17 all the way to North bay, then turn up the 63. In my experience, roads with 3 numbers that don't start in 4 suck lol
What are your thoughts?

The takeout (Kipawa River Lodge) is the preferred camping location.  $20/night, rally registration included.  Fish Fry Saturday night ($20)!  I think its pretty big and I'm assuming its first come first come first served for the weekend since I did not see anything on their web site...

There's also Camping Laniel:  $30 for 2 people.
