Todd, can you elaborate on the falls being nicer at higher levels? Thanks. --C.

I have only ran them a half dozen time or so, from 17-36.  I found that at 17 the second sister was a little dry on the bottom and 3 was dry on the right hand side - forcing you to boof while still driving right to avoid the horseshoe, this results in a funny landing that I did not find comfortable.  At higher levels 2-3 is awesome, faster between them and less forgiving, but much nicer paddling.

3 is good to go for the plug, I haven't ran the boof line. 4-5 are likely nicer at the lower levels, I have seen, been and heard of carnage here. 6 is also nicer at higher levels as it is shallow at the bottom.

Just my two cents, what one person feels are ideal levels are rarely what another thinks.  The nice thing about paddling is almost every paddler can find something fun on most rivers at various levels.

Beaver: at least Bill S. and myself are heading down there on the 22nd (well, tentatively anyway).

I have paddled the sisters at 17, and found them to be much nicer at higher levels. I am looking to do a run down the main early on Saturday for anyone who is looking for a third option.

However I would encourage those who have more time (I am also doing folk fest), to check out the Beaver.  I'll be headed down there on the 22nd.

Whoa! Level's below 14 m3/s! At this level, you may have no choice but to scout the Seuil, since you may be already carrying your boat on your shoulder...

So the 7 Sisters is definitely an option for this Saturday. And the other option is the releases on the same day for both Taylorville and Eagle sections of the Beaver, both can be done in one day.

So?

Hi,

I would scout the Seuil a Elizabeth before running it. At 15, there is a potential hazard for pinning the boat (river right).

I'm in for for a weekend day. I can't take time off from work for a little while (took quite a bit this summer and need to give my supervisor a break for a few weeks at least).

This year has been ridiculous with weddings.

3 of my friends have gotten married. And they always have them on the nice long weekends.

I think you have too many weddings.   ;)

Would anyone be keen on a late afternoon sunset run next week then?

Ok! So assuming the levels stay under 25 cms, lets try and make this happen.

I know some of you are keen for a first time or a rematch, just like me. I still have #2-5-6 left to run! 8)

Again, this section where the falls are is class IV-IV+ Kayaking. The gorge above and below is Class II-III with a couple nice moves at low water actually.. great place to practice boofs and rock splats. Surely not a great place for swimmers though. It can get shallow in certain areas of the Seuil Elizabeth run below 30cms. Playboat or creekboat, whatever you feel most confident in. These levels are forgiving and pools are huge!

Please bring appropriate rescue gear. Throwbag, whistle, float bags, Carabiners and common sense and leave your ego at home.. If you have never run a small waterfall like Quyon, left side at Garb Eddy or Assomption Chutes or have no clue what a boof stroke is, then perhaps you should not run the falls and just enjoy the scenery, set safety, take pictures and watch and learn.

Intermediate paddlers are more than welcome to join the fun on the Seuil Elizabeth Section.

Please post if you are interested in joining the fun.

Sunday, we ran the whole thing in about 4 hours and a bit less with the scout of the falls etc...

So lets aim to be at the take out for 10:30-11:00 AM That should give most people a few hours to cure their hangovers.  ;D

Heres a video at these flows.
