And I'm out for the Rouge. Sorry guys...

I had plans to head out to the Sugar Shack that morning in Papineauville (nearby) but the reservations are a little later than what was originally planned and it's a fairly large group outing. It simply won't be possible for me to go to the Sugar Shack (which I committed myself to) and somehow get to the Rouge with enough time to paddle it. Not to mention that even if I could, we would have no margin for error if something went wrong since it would be so late in the day.

So I shall bail on this trip. My apologies. I heard there is some Sewer Wave action going on though... I may show up for that.

ooh... I want to go.

DO IT!

What's the ice situation like?

Steve Taylor (kiwi steve) is interested in joining as well.

Its good. I mean there is some places with ice on sides/rocks... Its no place to be constantly swimming (although second vid suggests otherwise) but the river itself is pretty darn clear of ice so long as you know how to paddle! :P

I believe that there is no ice: too much current. Everything will be scouted anyway.

Paul, the Rouge was the 2nd river I ran in my (short) paddling carreer (1st was the Jacques-Cartier). The Ottawa and Gatineau came later. I see no reason why you could not run it in you new boat! Great opportunity to try it, and believe me: in a Super Hero, the Rouge at 80 m3/s won't even flip you, it's definitely a playboat level!

Rouge does not qualify as a first spring river of the year for me, either Saturday or Sunday. You guys have fun!

Hmmm... Tempting. Temperature should be below zero, so I might take my big boat even if level (~80 m3/s) is quite manageable in a playboat...

Why are you not coming, Paul?

--C.

If I'm on the water Sunday, it will be surfing at Sewer Wave or surfing at Champlain or rolling at Ottawa U.

Paul ;)
