You know 'that guy'?

Sitting in a chair. rocking slowly, smiling with the sun in his face and a gentle breeze?

As he watches the poor bastards stuck in traffic on the nearby bridge?

Today I was 'that guy'.

Except that my rocking chair was a big yellow kayak.

I was on the first wave from about 3 pm to 5 pm, with maybe fifteen minutes in the eddy total. I had only a few surfs, each around ten minutes.

Then it got interesting.

It felt like being in one those 80's vertically scrolling shooter games, carving left and right to avoid big chunks of ice... Xevious, anybody?

The second wave can be attained sideways from the eddy, no need to drop from above.

Here's Adam Chappel dodging ice chunks. It has begun, kids!

I will not be coming out tonight. I could surf the top wave in my playboat last time I was there.

I'll be there soon. I have to return Daniel's kayak anyway, so I'll be surfing the Burn. Might helpnif the wave isn't really in yet...

With the warm rain I am betting it will be pretty clear.

...unless it's not good.

But as Martin pointed out, it might be an iceberg dodging game. Still fun I suppose!

I'll go take a look tomorrow.

Anytime after 3 pm is good too.
