I've never done the Gat at these sorts of levels before, and I'd like to but probably not this time.
From what I understand of when to hit this spring-run, you may find the levels to be higher than what you are wishing for. I believe that the main objective is High Tension, and that is good to go between 20 and 25 on the BR gauge from what I hear. That gauge was reading 22 on Thursday before the rains and it hasn't been updated since. The levels on this page have been updated for Fri and Sat:
http://ottawariver.ca/river-levels-flows.phpFrom looking at notes I made of last years flows, yesterday's 164.53 reading would equate to ~28 on the BR gauge. Perhaps 27, but it is not likely to be any lower.
The levels should be staying quite high for a while with the way the inputs are behaving upstream. The Gat. above the Baskatong Reservoir is significantly above its previous 38yr old record for this date:
