there's a gauge in Appleton .
but the dam in Almonte might reduce the flow before it gets to Blakeney.

Êtes-vous allés?  Le niveau est bon?  Est-ce qu'il y a une jauge sur cette rivière?

No worries! I would be keen to go saturday!

I was asking about Blakeney because I want to boat tonight after work with a buddy of mine. Unfortunately, after seeing the pictures you put up, I think that maybe Blakeney is too steep for my buddy. I would do it though. Anyway, were going to go play at the Petite-Nation's canyon tonight if you're interested. We should be at the parking of the Aquaventure around 6 - 6:15 ish. Cheers.

Soooo Here my beta... many different channels and lines..im sure there are around 5-6... some of them on the left cant be seen on sattelite here but they are there!

https://maps.google.ca/maps?oe=&safe=active&q=blakeney+rapids&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x4cd219711bbb0087:0x4fac44e68ba2f296,Blakeney+Rapids,+Mississippi+Mills,+ON&gl=ca&ei=2E-HU5S_IMe98gGM14GYCw&ved=0CB4Q8gEoATAA

Left side has 3 channels... 2 small class 3+ creek lines... and one main big water class 3 line ending with a split.  Here are pics :

Lead in left at Flood Stage Class 4+

Far left creek line class 3+ -4 line:

Second left creek line class 3 - 3+ line:

Left channel main line class 3:

bottom split

Center  left line has a big tree in it now:

Far right view from bottom at lower water Class 4

Basically...Asides from the left... Most of the right side channels are read and run class 4-4+ and could potentially be scouted from the bottom pools if you like walking and poison ivy.

Forgot to mention, The main channels have a lot of flow, but the only really tricky part is making sure you end up going down the correct channel... Most of the main channels would be class 3+, maybe 4+ on the far side, but I can't be sure since I haven't seen it up close.

I was there this past weekend, and it's easily a class 3+, if not a class 4. There are a variety of runs, some of which are more scout able than others. The bigger water tends to be at the top, with a few smaller class II+ channels on the left. Anything on the left is scoutable, and there are bridges between some of the islands. The right side might be scoutable, but it would be a lot more work and I don't know for sure if there is anything. The small channels are a tight technical run, with a couple potentially dangerous strainers near the bottom. It eventually empties out into a main Chute with a long run-off.
