Great to see all the familiar faces, and some new ones too, and to hit the water again... though I overdid it a bit for my first time out this year!  (Minor knee issue that's been mostly resolved with a physio session... if anyone needs a good physiotherapist, I've got one to recommend!)

I've also misplaced a small (<5L?) clear drybag... anyone find one / acquire an extra-one while at Jessop's campground?

(If it made it as far as the campground, I would have lost it right by where many of those who arrived only on Saturday parked and got changed to paddle... near Stefan's and Bill's cars, I think.  Might have got thrown into someone's car by accident?)

Thanks, and see you again next time!

Thanks to everyone who came for making the weekend a lot of fun!

Also, don't forget that Christians mead was a real hit as well ;D

We experienced both summer and winter weather during the weekend. We received some drizzle on Saturday lasting about 20 minutes ... which was quite different than the downpour at the Ottawa River takeout. The skies threatened, winds blew and the temperatures dropped about 15 degrees chasing all the bug away. Only the hardy mosquitoes with winter parkas greeted us at "Bugs" bay.

Zach put on some good clinics at Palmer Rapids then switched the session to Hass after lunch for some hole play.

Jon's home brew was quite tasty around the camp fire ...

There were a lot of other groups on the Lower Mad on Sunday ... MKC, Boundless Adventure, Scouts, KWP, rafters, open boaters and another
group of tripping canoes.

Nice pictures. Great weekend, despite cold and a bit of drizzle.

We did hook up with Joan at Aumond's Bay today!

And the take-out lived to its legend. 'Bug's Bay', not 'Buck's Bay'...

It was great seeing everyone yesterday and I had a blast at Hass Hole.

See you soon on the Ottawa!

I would like to come to paddle the Madawaska on Sunday.  Does anyone have a time to meet at Aumond Bay?

In general, we are creatures of habit and over the many years of holding the events such as Palmer Rapids weekend, we try not to change much. It messes with success. We might add other mini-events during the weekend such as beer tasting, rope throwing and such. So the info thread is more or less the same as previous years.

See you folks some time Saturday afternoon ... I might enroll in a clinic if space permits or provide some assistance if Zach needs some. Camp over night and run the Lower Mad on Sunday provided there is enough interest. Unless they drop another log in the dam the level should be around 100 cms which is a great level for the river ... Hint--- paddle the darn river.

Oh I should remember to bring blank membership forms  ...

From the Palmer Rapid Weekend 2015 - info thread:
Quote
For those of you who have not been to Jessop's campground - once you get there - just go straight - we try to camp to the left of the meadow - so don't turn into the big area on the right - just go straight - you will see the big field and there will be outhouses up near the back - stick to that area just up from the beach on the camping "tiers" but not as far as the outhouses.

Lots of other important info in that posting too!  (E.g. re mosquitoes and toilet paper!)

BTW, Stefan and I will now be coming up on Saturday morning (in time for the first clinic), so don't expect us Friday evening!

Here's hoping Saturday's weather forecast improves!

gauge level is presently around 100 cms. ...
Optimum for river running and play boating.

I will try to remember to bring a bottle of mead or two... --C.

I am kind of excited to try it!

I think I am going bring my charcoal grill, so others should be able to use some of the grilling real estate as well if they want.
