Yannick,
A 08:50 pickup can work for me. Feel free to park on my driveway apron. My house is
- on the north side,
- fronted by a low stone retaining wall and bushes,
- has a silver 2003 Subaru and a blue 1984 Chev 1 ton van in the driveway,
- and immediately before a boxy multidwelling with a pile of dirt and pallet of patio stones in the median between the road and sidewalk, and across from a bulb out on the other side of the street.
Having no stops on the way home does not bother me. If we need to take off at 2:30, I am a little concerned that by the time shuttles are done, there will be little or no time to actually play on the river, . 14:30 - 09:00 = 5.5 hours. 5.5 hours less (1.75 travel + .75 (1st) change/shuttle ) = 3 hours on river time. (In 38 years of paddling the Ottawa, I've never run the Ottawa at Beachburg that fast. Perhaps we should consider alternatives:
- earlier departure
- park and play at Big McCoy
- take off the river later than 2:30
At 3 feet on the gauge, I suspect that the bottom of Big McCoy will provide us good play. If we choose to run down the river, the main channel will likely be faster if no extra swims result.
I await your feedback.
Alternatively Elizabeth and others: Are you planning a car pooling meetup time and place for your later trip? If Yannick chooses to park and play at Big McCoy, might someone get me home, if I went up with him and down with you, or what time might I meet you at an in your specified Ottawa car pooling place? - Thanks
