In case someone decides to come at the last minute, since rides are already organized, we are NO LONGER meeting at Fallowfield.

Most of us are meeting at the Ogdensburg corner store or at the takeout.

So don't show up at Fallowfield, nobody will be there.

Salut!

I'll see the group at the Taylorville put in at 10 AM.  I'd like to look at the last drop on the Eagle...

Christian, running the last part is a great idea for lots of people! I hadn't thought of it until you mentioned it. It's a great spot to enjoy a small waterfall, similar to Quyon with very little consequence since you're in a pool of water at the bottom. If you're reading this and fall into the category of Class 5 series of drops is above my skill level, consider running the last bit for sure.

Sounds good.

I got 'Beaverated' in the second lap, just laziness from my part and wasn't too bad actually. I curled into a little ball, sank to the bottom and popped up a few meters downstream. Had time to swim to shore and stand on a rock before my boat finally flushed out of the hole.

Eagles section should be interesting. For those who are not up to doing the whole thing, just remember that the last part, a 3 m waterfall, is very friendly and it is very easy to do laps there without running the whole section. See images below.

Sounds good to me! I'll advise Simon that I'll be picking him up earlier.

Spoke to Jon, he's good with doing an earlier start.

New meeting time at Fallowfield Park & Ride for 7:15AM Saturday.

Good with that Christian, Simon and Élizabeth? Means meeting up at the corner store in Ogdensburg for around 8:30 instead of 9.

And of course, hopefully Annie can join us along with others.

Hi.

I would certainly like to join.

Based on our experience this last Saturday, when we got on the highway 417 at 7:15 and arrived at the take out just before 10:00, leaving Ottawa at 8 am would result in arriving at the take out around 10:45. I would respectfully suggest a slightly earlier departure time in order to maximize release utilization...

Can't believe I actually wrote this. Cheers!

Ogdensburg corner store is a regular stop on the way down. We'll meet you there probably around 9:00AM.

I assume others will be coming, just waiting until we're closer to the weekend, but in case nobody else participates, please let us know if you guys change your mind because Jon and I would carpool if you guys have a car... otherwise we would be taking two separate cars. Either way, usually the participation level for these runs is quite good.

In case, [redacted] is my mobile number.

Sounds great! Simon and I will be going as well. The park and ride is a little out of the way for us so we can meet you at the corner store in Ogdensburg or at the put in.

I will be skipping the eagle descent myself but maybe Simon will be up for it.

Hello everyone,

This Saturday, Sept 12th, Jon and I will be paddling the Taylorville and then the Eagle section of the Beaver river in New York. BeaverFest is now over, so crowds should be minimal. Water release is schedule from 10:00AM to 2:00PM for Taylorville, and 1:00PM to 5:00PM Eagle section.

Please post if you're planning on joining us. Jon and I are most likely going to go a second time some other Saturday if you can't make it this time.

Meet at the Fallowfield Park & Ride for 7:45AM 7:15AM (changed meeting time) sharp to organize carpooling: https://goo.gl/YlpIWR

If we leave around 8AM, assuming border crossing goes well, we should be at the takeout around 10:15AM (give or take).

We'll be heading to the Taylorville section first: https://goo.gl/rvDxHp (takeout)

Most likely do two laps and then head over to the Eagle section: https://goo.gl/mgh0nG (Put in)

Odds are we will have post paddling celebratory/epic failure brewskis/food at a local establishment.

DON'T FORGET PASSPORTS!!! Also, please make sure you have travel insurance and make sure you have the right contact info in case something happens. Just let one of your buddies on the river know where the card is. If you don't have travel insurance, MEC offers discounts on such travel insurance for high risk sports, even for only a few days! General Information:

Both the Taylorville and Eagle sections are part of the Beaver river which on a scheduled water release. These sections can only be paddle a few Saturdays in a year mostly during September.

Taylorville is a fantastic creeking run with lots of variety but is very short. No point in bringing playboats, bring your creeker. Full face, elbow pads, etc. are not absolutely necessary, but most people wear them for this section. You can read all about each rapid here: http://goo.gl/GdgYDS

The Eagle section is definitely only for the more advanced boaters. It has potential serious consequences and is considered a class 5 run. Full face helmet, elbow pads, etc. are highly recommended for this run. If you don't want to run the Eagle, you can easily come and watch to entertain yourselves. DON'T FORGET YOUR THROWBAG! The paddlers would appreciate people on shore having their throwbags ready just in case. Read more here: https://goo.gl/TMts6Y and my video from a few years ago https://goo.gl/5sVR4Q

Salut!
