Awesome day on a fabulous river.  One fairly intimidating "really want to" make ferry, and a straight forward must make ferry, plus a bunch of bushwacking through the dense brush made the reward of the rest of the river a glorious treat.

Five of us had the river to ourselves. It was high. We walked the 1st nasty Class VII slides, and put in below to cross the river. We looked at the following rapid and there was no line at all in it. So we walked that one too. But the rest was amazing! Well worth the drive nevertheless. No mishap, just good fun under a blue sky.

Same level as in 2016 --- 60 cms for the Aval du ac section ... oh you have to click on the "Tend.M³/hre" column and choose the section of river. the main page defaults to a different section ... Cappucine is at 90ish

The guage is in Rawdon about 50-60 km downstream from the Lac Aval section
Not sure how quebec whitewater correlates the flow upstream but  ... in 2015 and 2016 debit readings were 32 and 37 cms. Recorded in my log book as good levels to run that section.

So a log is a good thing to maintain.

I was looking at the guage and the river description. The guage is a logarithmic scale looks to be about 130m3/s  and the guide says it is ideal from 30 to 40m3/s if my French translation is correct.


Le débit minimum (après avoir appliqué la pondération de 0. est très approximativement de 20 m3 /s, et à partir de 30 ou 40 m3 /s, on peut dire que le débit est idéal. 


Well that means it is ideal above 40m3/s so should be a good fun ride.

Anyone game on camping for the Saturday night, and then running something else on Sunday?  The Cappucines? I might also be interested in heading out that Friday and checking out White Dog on the Rouge, or depending on the levels White Dog may be a good option for Sunday. Hmmm....

Just wondering what was the average run time of this stretch of the river. I want to see if it's possible for me to get to Hawkesbury by 6 - 7 pm.

It's only 1.75 hours from the takeout to Hawkesbury, shouldn't be a problem.
