What a super-fantastic day at Valleyfield!

Beautiful weather and great friends to paddle with too!

Daniel had even more fun than the rest...LOL

We met a bunch of really nice paddlers, some which offered us food!!

Guess who we saw also?

Louis Dion. He hasn’t changed a bit and even has gotten Chantal to paddle with him.

On the way back we stopped at Mama Bear Chip Stand and had fantastic burgers and poutine!

Next weekend we paddle??????? ...who knows!

Paul:-)

Thanks Paul,

I can take 3 in my sub. - do you have stackers (my are buried somewhere).

P.S. I will try to be at 100 Boteler Street,  15-20m before 10 am.

Can you email me your phone number in case there is a problem in the morning.

Jim,

Hi Jim,

That's great. Sorry, I do not have stackers, but plenty of straps. No need to be earlier than 10am.

See you tomorrow!

Paul:-)

Hi All!

Kelly and I are leaving from my place, 100 Boteler Street, off Sussex, at 10 am and plan to be there before noon. We’ll paddle multiple laps. Anticipate being back in Ottawa easily before 6pm so your evening plan will not be compromised. Jim,
If you want to carpool, do you think we
might be able to fit in your Subaru?

Here below are all the info you need!

See you at my place or at Valleyfield Saturday!

Paul:-)

A bunch of us are going for a jaunt to Valleyfield White Water Slalom Course next Saturday, June 1.

Valleyfield is a Premier Class 2-3 Strech of river. It’s everything you wish the
Pump House should be!

CLEAN WATER!!!!! Bigger water but clean, easy
Beginner lines or more challenging line, your choice :-)
Should you swim there are no nasty rocks and you will simply be in nice calm water in a second or two.

There are some nice surf waves at the bottom, and a very easy portage trail the whole length of the river.

Great training river for Eddy attainment practice!

Afterwords, on the way back, there is a fantastic poutine place where we always stop for a well-deserved meal.

We are leaving Ottawa at 10am and should meet at Valleyfield at 11:30am , back by 6pm!

Post here to join in!

Instructions to get there are posted below:

.
Valleyfield is a town on the St. Lawrence river, just south east of the point where the 401 meets hwy 20 (i.e. just inside the border of Quebec).
The trip, from downtown Ottawa, takes 1:45 to 2:00hrs and is about 170km one way.

From Ottawa, take the 417 towards Montreal.
Exit toward Monkland/Cornwall (exit 58)
Drive to Cornwall (hwy 138) -- approximately 35km.
Follow hwy 138. It turns right then left as you approach Cornwall.
Before getting onto the 401, you can stop at Tim Horton’s in the mall that is just past the 401.
Take the 401 East (toward Montreal).
The 401 turns into Hwy 20 at the Quebec border
Drive 14km after the border and exit at Route 201 Sud towards Salaberry-de-Valleyfield (exit 14)
You’ll cross a few bridges, then you’ll enter Valleyfield. Take a right at Rue Alexandre (a 1 way street)
Turn left on Rue Dufferin.
You’ll see a shopping mall on the right. At the set of lights, turn into the shopping mall (you’ll see a Jean Coutu in the mall parking lot and a McDonalds on the other side of Dufferin)
Drive BEHIND the Maxi grocery store. This will bring you to a small parking area behind the mall and you’ll see the river with gates hanging.
