I am going this weekend, camping tonight and Sat. night.
Hoping to paddle on Sunday, assuming there are enough other paddlers.

Bruce.

Also, re paddling on Friday. I would do both days if we have a quorum of at least three boats both days.

I plan to be there! I have a couple of tarps I can bring, in case we need to shelter from rain.

Hopefully the sky clears on Saturday night. The Perseid Meteor shower is expected to peak that night. https://www.cbc.ca/news/science/2023-perseids-1.6931616

I am trying to figure out how much food to bring for Sat.

If you are coming and want food after the paddle, please update Bills event on FB
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1888522314725719

So far we only have 3 coming + 9 interested - so we don't have to buy much food so far.

And don't complain if you show up and there is no food left
(kidding - we usually have lots).

P.S. Ignore the duplicate event - I was playing with FB.

I will post your request on the exec planning page.

Personally I think that having a run on Friday would be a good idea for all those who want to go up (you would need to do your own shuttle).
You could try posting on FB and see if you get any reply's.

But changing the reservation and shuttle for Sat BBQ would be much harder to do.
Another problem is it is hard to determine how many are going and it would be
short notice to communicate any changes.

P.S.
Which weather app are you using?
Right now the weather network shows about 1 mm per hour starting around 11am.
Another one I use shows about .5 mm / hour starting at 1 pm
https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/@6065263/hourly
but both these two apps are very in-accurate.

What happens if the weather is crap? It could change but for now we’re supposed to get something like 15 mm of rain on Saturday. Maybe we could make a run on Friday?

CdB Gatineau River Weekend August 11 - 13

This annual summer event is always fun. Some people make it a weekend, arriving Friday. Most decide to drive up Saturday morning for the day trip on the Gatineau followed by dinner in the evening.

Meet time: Saturday 11 am

Meet place: Bonnet Rouge Campground

Info at:  http://www.bonnetrougerafting.com/?lang=en

Map for directions at: http://goo.gl/maps/bLXOg

Registration:

Please arrive at the designated time or slightly before to provide time to register, pay access/camping fees, chit chat, set up your tent, and get your gear ready for paddling. Camping  fees are as follows:

Camping: $25/ person/night included is the cost of put in/take out access.

Shuttle:

The club pays for a shuttle on Saturday morning which should start loading around 11:40 am. Boats have to be loaded on the trailer only (due to insurance reasons). Please bring your throw rope and straps to aid in securing boats to the trailer.

Dinner: The Club will offer Salmon, sausage,  pulled pork, corn and potatoes,
Others can bring veggies, snacks, salads, dessert etc.
Please bring a plate, cutlery and chair etc

Gatineau River

Plenty of info describing the Gatineau can be found on the internet. A good place to begin is http://cdb-ottawa.com/rivers-rapides/ and clicking on the appropriate link. In a nutshell, the Gatineau is a long lake, broken up by Class III/IV rapids with sharp rocks along the shore, all in a very majestic setting. The river is not busy with other boat traffic. All rapids are signed with a portage sign and route. Big water fun or try the creek line river right at the Bec du Corbeau.  Expect the river trip to last 3-4 hours so bring something to eat and drink.

Membership:  The club is covering the shuttle and food so please consider becoming a member  ($20)
There is a link on our web site to complete your signup:   https://cdb-ottawa.com/membership-adhesion
We'll bring along some paper forms but it's easier to do it online...

Yes this is still on. Details are coming.
The Exec is working out the food. If any other members would like to help out with the meal please let me know, we can use some help as we are shrinking in numbers.
