Is anybody interested in a run on the upper Petawawa - the 6.5 km section in the park the finishes at Lake Traverse?
If you don't know it - here's what's involved:
-Long day / long drive: early departure, get home after dark
-3.5 km walk up the rail bed from the car to the put-in; takeout at the Lake Traverse parking lot.
-6.5 km of super whitewater, including some fun boofs and creek moves (portage trails around every rapid of course...its algonquin park).
Water level: currently around 25 cms, which is a pretty friendly level. The drop at Poplar might not be running but otherwise all the rapids will be good to go. I've run it as low as 10 cms and it was still a fun day.
Day is still TBD - Saturday is a bit warmer but may rain. Sunday looks dry but cooler.
