Gauging interest for a trip on the Ottawa Middle Saturday with bike shuttle to respect distancing rules.  Meeting at put in at 11 AM (so drop your bike at the take out first).  Please reply here if you are up for it.

Stay safe,
Yannick

Do you have any suggestions for those folks who are "bicycle-challenged"?

Bill,
They could install a seat belt in their boat, tie their boat to someone's roof and strap in.

Alternatively,
My ski box has builtin straps,....  climb in.

For those who don't want to do a bike shuttle, you can always pair up with another paddler to share the ride (with masks and Purell).  I'll be on my bike.

The message from the Top Doc has changed to: "If you have to go out, be smart about it."

enjoy, be safe out there.

What are your thoughts on Québec plates parking at the putin? This is certainly not essential travel... Otherwise I think it would be fun.

I see Québec plates everywhere in and around Ottawa. Yesterday I paddled from Shirley's Bay to Aylmer (90 minutes round trip), no sign of restrictions. And a half-dozen fishing boats, plus a few other canoes/kayaks. Just came back from bike ride in Gatineau park (biked over 2 different interprovincial bridges). No sign of restrictions. Things are easing off, and definitely so in rural areas. So IMHO no problem to do middle channel. Worst case, Québec people stick river left, Ontario people river right...
