Topic: Ottawa River Aug 16th

Plans may change with the weather... I'm still very interested in running the river tomorrow, but I don't think the beginners I was going to take are so enthusiastic... So the main channel may be a better choice. I'm also (maybe) coming from ottawa now, but still don't have a car (unless the beginners come along and I drive with them, in which case the middle is back in)... To many variables... My head hurts with all the potential options, so I'll wait until I hear more from said friends and then post what's happening from my end.

Well, I'm interested in paddling this weekend, but as usual am car-less. 

(And I think you mentioned in another post that you're not coming from/to Ottawa, this weekend, Jordan.)

So if anyone else with a car wants to paddle, and wants some company, please drop me a note!  (On Offer: gas money; driving duties; setting up shuttle by bike.)

We could arrange shuttle with Jordan, and either join them on the middle, or run the main.  Personally, I'm more interested in the main, and playing along the way!  ...I'm also available on Sunday, and am open to other destinations!

We would be doing the middle, if it happens... and it wouldn't be a very fast run, but it wouldn't be a very playful run either. I'm taking one or two beginners with me who just want to see what it's like, so it will be a lot of scouting and introducing them to some of the basic concepts, and chances are good they'll portage a bunch of the more risky rapids (or ones that LOOK intimidating  ). 

Mostly I'm looking for one or more people who are already planning to be on the river, because I'm hoping to connect with someone to drive to the put-in with, but if you (or anybody else) wants to paddle down with us on the middle, you're welcome to do that. Just don't expect it to be super exciting... In fact, it will probably be one of the most boring runs you've done!  These are people who I have a vested interest in, and so I'm catering this trip entirely to them  (besides the whole kayaking thing... I'm not complaining about that!  )

You're welcome to run the main while we do the middle and we can set a time to meet at the take-out and drive you back up at the end, or something like that if that's more what you're looking for.

Does anybody have plans to be on the Ottawa this saturday? I would be interested in connecting with somebody, potentially for paddling, but especially for the purpose of shuttling if you're gunna be up in that direction!
