Trip report from Peru - Rio Urubamba

Hola CdBers!
I?ve been hanging out in Cuzco for the last three weeks now, after I found out safety kayakers are in high demand... (especially those who speak good English :)).  I found work with Mayuc, and have been getting paid (15$US a day!) to paddle the Chuqi section of the Urubamba river everyday...  It?s continuous class II-III rapids, not the roller coasters I?m used to on the Ottawa but a challenge none the less: there are rocks EVERYWHERE... you can never let your guard down(!).  Mayuc also routinely does 3 day trips down the Apurimac river, class IV-V stuff... I?m not there yet, but who knows with time...  competition is quite fiercer to safety kayak those trips though (and the pay doubles).  I was finally able to upload pics on Facebook if you?d like to have a look.

Give me a shout if you?d like to come visit...  and work?
I miss you guys, but I?m planning on staying here a little while longer...  keep enjoying the crazy high water in Ottawa!
besos,
Carine :)
