Outch!

As for the broadsiding, I will add grapplins, sabers, triangular patch and wooden leg to my regular on-board equipment.
We should film this.
I can see the title: "Pirate of the Ottawa: The Curse of the Green Dagger"
Fade in...
Several frogmen are floating in the water next to a big building sitting on top of a big hill with a flag floating on top.
- "We can't find him.", says one of the frogman with a thick accent.
- "He must be in Davy Jones' locker." replies another diver, but this one with a British accent.
- "Time to call his wife." says mountie Do-Right.
Switch to scene 1001; inside a kitchen with several women crying...

Heummm, I'll have to work a bit more on that chapter...
Christian, you work on make-up to fake bruises or you prefer a fallguy?

But CdeB is not listed.
How come??
I think our VP of Public Relations should get involved here....

No chance for that right now... Looks like we need a new VP...

So, as Louis has described, each rapid has an easy line, which we took, us weenies. But that's not saying that they are boring. There is potential for more interesting and impressive lines through the same rapids, and the river is quite deep so experimenting there is quite safe. Yeah, in Lucifer's rapid, somehow all three of us thought it was a good idea to catch the same mini-eddy, resulting in me broadsiding Louis at a good speed...

One thing I forgot to mention regarding the Gatineau; the "planiols", or flat spots, go by quick.
Long enough to enjoy the company and autumn view and short enough to prevent sores and bores.

I was just browsing through the Gatineau festival website...
At the bottom of the page http://www.gatineau.org/fr/commanditaires.html, they list contact info for several canoe and kayaking club...
But CdeB is not listed.
How come??
I think our VP of Public Relations should get involved here....

My first time on the Gatineau!
Rain held off - we even had a few patches of blue sky - and Annie, Cleo, Christian and I had the whole river to ourselves.
What a change from the raft infestation and long eddy line-up.

I was expecting something harder, and being my first time, I went for the normal lines and should have explored some harder lines.
This was definitively easier than the main at the 14.5 level it was yesterday.
Most rapids are single steps, on the normal lines, except Haute Tension; you just have one move to do than a bit of a wave train and pool.
Haute Tension required a bit of navigation around the holes and features and had a hell of a nice big wave "a la" Lower No Name in high water. Zoom-zoom.

Cleo went for harder lines while Annie, Christian and I took the normal lines.
Sometimes congesting the line (Gee, there is only 4 of us in the whole river)...or even piling up...OK from now on, Christian, you're in front.
The Haute Tension/Wall is the only one that was more concerning for me as it looked much more difficult than the others.

I managed - somehow - a hell of an nose ender in the eddy line of Haute Tension. My nose just got swallowed in a whirlpool.
Interesting stop at Le Corbeau on the old log jam in the middle of the river, highlighting the lives of raftmen/draveurs.
We missed Cleo doing the boof on the right side of Le Corbeau; looks like he missed it as well.
Lunch on the beach, checking out deer footprints in the soft sand.
Tiny bit of creeking at Bonnet Rouge under the bridge.
Not a sole (or a soul I should say) in sight, but the 2 old ladies wishing us a nice day on the river.
But they looked really happy to see their first clients that weekend.
Water was colder than the Ottawa, but not really cold. Colder on the hands at least.
Nice colors in the trees.
Overall, nice, quiet, relaxing dry day for me, in excellent company.

Annie,
J'ai tout laiss? ? Christian vu qu'il habite plus proche et qu'il est disponible toute la fin de semaine prochaine.
De plus, moins de questions de mon ?pouse face aux effets d'une jeune et ?l?gante bip?de. ;)

Hey, hey, maybe La Rouge next...
A+

Perfect level for the Gatineau. Enough water for missing the rock underneath, yet not as pushy as higher levels. All the lines are pretty straight forward. Have fun guys!

Since I haven't done the Gatineau yet, that destination interest me quite a lot.
Just spoke to Dr Christian and we are sorting things out.

Hi

I would love to paddle tomorrow. The only problem is that I need to be in town for 17:30. For this reason I would suggest the Gatineau as the run is shorter than the Ottawa and is roughly equally distant. Another complication is that I do not drive I do however have access to a vehicule if someone else wants to drive it... ChrisG i know you drive but don't have a car maybe we can work something out. Feel free to give me a call at 613-224-5853.

What about me? I've been having migraines this week, so I'm not sure how I'll feel tomorrow. On the other hand, I will not be paddling for a few weekends... I'll probably join if you guys are not leaving to early.

What are the plans? It would be fun to see M. Moneypenny since we haven't see him in a while. But it would be fun to do the Gatineau too.

I guess you people don't mind paraphrasing my think french accent  ;).

Well, so far there is interest from Kelly M, Louis D and myself. Annie, what about you?

Options are pretty much the same as usual: Ottawa middle or main (level-dependent), Gatineau, Petite Nation, Rouge... Plus an amateur rodeo in Valleyfield QC.

Let's discuss it!
