hi

Bates to Lemieux island is the standard run to get in a surf at Remic rapids and a shuttle is usually set up cuz back getting back upstream is quite difficult.
We used to take out at Lemieux closer to the Parkway rather than the Island itself, leaving a car parked outside the access gate to the Island.

Launching from the Lemieux Island might be difficult since it could be fenced off.

As for paddling below Lemieux, well those big yellow warning signs above the falls will certainly make listening to the Blues interesting.

Sean, last year a large flottilla paddled from The Wall down to the museum of war, here's Larry's map for this:

The take out was right on the museum grounds near the Hard Rock Cafe stage, and there was at most Class I stuff if you stayed close to the Ontario side. If my memory is right, it's deep enough everywhere but the current is fairly strong around and below Lemieux Island, even in sea kayaks you'd have to walk back above it to return to Bate Island. Have fun!

Bluesfest access from the water

Hi All,

We're thinking about doing some paddling and visiting Bluesfest from the water.

BUT... I have a few questions.  Is it navigable from Bate Island down to the festival grounds?

There are some VERY shallow regions before Lemieux Island, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to get back upstream.

Is it possible to launch from Lemieux?

Thanks!

Sean
