Y-Fest 2011 (Sept. 16-18) Come Paddle with Ottawa's Canoe Camping Club (YCCC)!
« Reply #1 on: September 01, 2011, 09:48:42 AM »
Y-Fest is a celebration of the paddling season for both FW and WW paddlers - it is not limited to YCCC members! We love to share the river with other clubs and paddlers, even the odd kayaker. ;)

When: September 16th-18th, 2011

You can show up on Friday for the warm-up activities, for a day, or join us for the entire weekend.

Location: This year's event will be held at River Run Whitewater Resort, in Beachburg,Ontario, about 1.5 hour from Ottawa. For a map and detailed directions please see the following: http://www.riverrunrafting.com/resources/directions/

Our group will be located in the Paddler?s Meadow at River Run.

To keep it simple and inexpensive, this year?s y-fest will not be a catered event. Participants will need to rough it a little andcook/prepare meals. Also, whitewaterpaddlers will organize shuttles themselves. This will keep the price way down. Saturday?s dinner will be a pot-luck and everyone is expected tocontribute. Y-Fest 2011 is also 2 weeks earlier than in past years so the weather will be warmer and more pleasant.

To sign up, confirm your attendance by emailing Y-fest@yccc.ca. Please indicate if you are paddling whitewater or flatwater and if you can volunteer some help during the event. If you would like to participate in a family event with your children, please email family@yccc.ca as the family schedule continues to evolve!

Camping/Accommodations: You are responsible forarranging camping/Accommodations with River Run. Call them at 1-800-267-8504 to reserve or just show up. For campers, Y-Fest reserved a quiet area for our group (Paddler?sMeadow). This area is away from the noise and bustle of the main area. Camping is $16.50/person/night for camping and includes access to the river. River Run also offers cabin rentals. Note: River Run only allows people to arrive before 9 PM to register. Please arrive before 9 PM.

Included with Camping: ? Access to the river (take outfor paddlers) ? Access to shower housefacilities ? Riverrunners Pub ? Main pavilion (covered areawith picnic tables for dining) ? Sauna ? Camp fire

Who can attend: Y-Festis not limited to YCCC members. Any responsible paddler can attend. At minimum, you must: ? Want to have fun ? Be able to hold a paddle ? Know what side of the canoe should stay up ? Have a pulse ? Want to have fun!!

Food and cooking: Participants are responsible for bringing food and cooking/preparing food (breakfast, lunchand dinner). Saturday dinner will be a potluck.
