Yep, it's different at high water. Below are 2 photos of the 1st canyon in the spring, when I ran it with Ivan. It was the first time we were there! Looks impressive. --C.

Just so people are aware.. the petite nation over 80 cms is a whole other river. Some of you have only paddled it a high water.. some of you lower...

Heres a video of the first canyon at over 80 cms to compare with the one posted above at 25 cms.

Graham and I would love to go but it's a hell of a drive and I've got finals to study for. Maybe some other time!

Well then I will really try to convince him to come but if the tempurature is below -2 I am not sure if he is going to go but he bought himself a new dry top so he should be ok and he practised his roll with his boat so I think he might be good we will see tomorrow. ;)

Not to hijack but....
What ice is in this early?
You started it so I hijack too, sorry JN.  We drive far away from here up north in Charlevoix.  There is a thin sheet of ice covering the classic lines and I bet that the cold temperature of this week will fatten them enough to be climbable Saturday. I may as well loose my bet and end up drinking scotch all the weekend regretting not to be on the Petite Nation with you guys.

Graham and I may be convinced to join you and we might be able to work something out in boats. It depends on where the river is. How far would it be from Pembroke?

Todd.. most likely both days.
If I go up there, (my parents have a farm and the river crosses our land) I will most likely stay there all weekend. So really its up to you.. But I need a boat first.

There are also some more fun stuff 30 kms north.. A couple drops actually Id like to check out too!
