Cl?o, Dave: give me a call anytime tonight, 613-355-2470. Grahame has bailed out of the trip to the Moose.

Worst case, let's go to the main channel and try those river runner/creek boats in Phil's, Coliseum etc.! Could be fun to try surfing waves with them too.

don't go all the way to old forge , here are directions-------bring them , easy to get lost.

  - cross 1000 islands bridge
  - take 81 south
  - exit in watertown (bradley street exit)and take 12 south
  - turn left at Stewarts Shops convience store(on 12) in lyons falls
  - turn right on Mc alpine
  - left at lyonsdale
  - keep left at fork in road (marmon/hunkins)
  - turn left at fowlersville and drive 4 minitues to put in(for bottom moose) at green bridge.

Take out - backtrack down lyonsdale and turn at shibley and go over the 2
tiny bridges then right at yellow gate.

I just made a few calls and it would seem that Dave Jackson, ChrisG, Grahame and I are a go for Saturday doing either the bottom or the lower to be determined upon arrival at Fowlersville. Grahame, Dave has agreed to give me a ride as he is closer to where I live and you live closer to Chris's so perhaps you could pick him up.

Here's the general plan:
-Arrange transporatation to leave Ottawa at 7am
-If you make your cell number know, we can do a rolling start and convoy up while on the way to the border.
-Drive to Fowlersville Falls (NY state roads are confusing - don't get lost or follow another car with boats on it)
-Fowlersville is the takeout for the lower and the put in for the bottom
-We'll make a final decision on which section to run based upon the day's level

remember to bring appropriate gear and prepare for it to be cold

Well, I could do a trip Saturday too. Water levels are predicted to be between 3' and 4' (with release).

If not, then next year. There will be plenty of stuff to do next spring anyway.

So?

Does not look like I will be able to make it to Moosefest, this year.
Sorry guys.

I've got taxi duty on Friday evening.
And have a dinner in Montreal, Sunday late afternoon.
Might be able to do more local stuff on Sat.

So count me out for the Moose.

Yes I'd like to drive down for one day (either Sat or Sun) and run the lower Moose.  I have room for one or two passengers and gear.  I just need to make sure I can rent a boat.

Hello everyone.

Mark.D., I was talking to Bill Schlarb and Paul Potvin last Thursday, and they said that you would be a great guide for the Moose. I talked to Dave Jackson and he said he'd like to go; Cl?o, Louis D. and myself would like as well, we could form a small group, if you feel like it... Can we try to arrange something? Cl?o and I do not own cars, but there is a pick-up truck that can be borrowed which might even make it to the river... Or we can car pool? Let's see what you guys think!

Just checking the move to the new location for the website...

Everything is walkable?
Yes but it's a bitch of a walk.

Just from experience ... for the first time several years ago I ran the Bottom Moose (4.85 on the gauge) in my ulltrafuge ... not recommended and a week after that I purchased a creeker.
The Bottom Moose: Fowlers to Ager falls is fun
Ager Falls to the take out which includes Powerline, Shureform and Crystal, a creeker is recommended for the last 2 on the list.
If not running those sections, the portage is not friendly.

As for the Lower Moose ... the Tannery is a long Class III-IV(long portage) ... the other 2 memorable sections are Froth hole and Mix Master (short portages)

My cut off level on the gauge is above 5, do the Lower ...

Both the Lower and Bottom sections should not be taken lightly. Some folks did the Beaver River Taylorville section earlier. That's good but think bigger (or the Beaver on steroids) if you plan to do the Moose.

yes, everything is easily scoutable and walkable on the bottom moose, I would concider it a good intro to creeking as you dont have to run a certain rapid if you dont want to.

Hey... I am thinking of joining the fun too! And in the bottom section, everything is walkable.

My friend Vincent's comment was
"Plus besoin de me battre avec la rivi?re!"
He was probably referring to the whole river. Look at pictures of their 2006 trip:

Vince is in the black Booster. Another is Zoomer, in an Riot playboat... I am amazed that they ran all those drops in such small boats...
