Thanks for the paddle guys!!  I might be heading out again next weekend... maybe out to the ottawa where the water is a little bigger.  Let me know if any of you are interested.

Yes, we had fun. And congratulations to Paul #2 for managing to surf--standing on his board--five or six times! Better than my ten seconds with my new boat, not the best for such a wave... I will have to get used to a slow boat, my arms were toast after an hour!

Hey paul, come pick me up Saturday if you want a paddling partner!

Level is at 3.3 right now, so either wave is ok, but Sewer might be nicer.

Ian, don't worry about ear plugs. The eddy is where storm drain overflow is discharged in the river through a tunnel, but frankly, I never saw any water coming out of there. You are actually paddling the main river current, people swim above it and below it in the summer. An anecdote: last summer, as I was peacefully surfing, a tennis ball drifted down right next to me, I could have picked it up. I immediately looked upstream and saw a dog on shore, with a sad look on his face: "I lost my ball..."

The wave is a the end of B?gin Street in Gatineau (the street begins at Boul. Tach? at the main entrance of the Gatineau Park). There's a park with a statue of Jean de Br?beuf, can't miss it.

I might try Sewer tomorrow at around 2pm. The eddy is the sewer. The wave itsels is in the main flow of the current so no worries. Please let me know, anyone if you're going to show up, then I'll definitely be there.

Sounds good.  I will recheck the ottawa kayak blog for directions.

Sewer wave... I suspect earplugs are recommended.

Hey Mark, Chris, Adam and Ian,

I'm interested but Sewer wave looks promissing too if the level keeps going up like it looks to do now.

Hey... I am up for a bit of play in town. We went to BYOB on Oct. 14, the level was just below 3 and the wave was there, sort of... But now the level has gone up a bit, it will be around 3.3 this weekend, so BYOB will be even better, maybe even Sewer Wave will be starting to form.

With a dry top and a few layers, things should be comfortable for an hour of play or so... Any taker?
